Step by step makeover procedure for a 1960's suitcase.
Here is a list of the MATERIALS and TOOLS I've used
To disassembly the suitcase I've used:
wood chisel
cobbler pincer
To remove nails from the all the hinges and from the wooden pieces
cobbler pincer
To clean the small pieces of wood:
80/120/240 grit sandpaper
To clean the metal pieces
the black + decker light drill driver
wire brush set: 2 disc brushes - coarse (the grey one) and fine, which is much more softer (the yellow one)
hand plier to hold on the metal pieces while brushing
To straighten the metal pieces that were damaged either with the passage of time or by the dismantling process i’ve used a light hammer.
To cover the exterior I've used brown synthetic leather.
To glue the synthetic leather:
brush
a slow-drying adhesive usually used in the shoe making process
hand cutter to remove the excess leather
rapid stapler gun to fix better the borders
To fix in position the metal pieces:
small steel nails
To cover the interior I've opted for a synthetic beige leather which I glued with the same adhesive that I've used on the exterior part.
Thanks for watching !
