Title Idea: Life of Yak Herders in Pikey Peak | Pure Himalayan Cheese Making & Village Life in Solukhumbu, Nepal Video Description: Welcome to the remote eastern Himalayan region of Solukhumbu, Nepal! In this video, we explore the daily life and struggles of local farmers and herders in the high-altitude terrain of Pikey Peak (4,065 meters), who make a living by raising Yaks, Chauris (yak-cow hybrids), and sheep. Every day, these hard-working herders trek 4 to 5 hours on foot to deliver fresh milk to the Nawur Yak Cheese Factory, operated under the Government of Nepal's Dairy Development Corporation (DDC). Here, the price of milk is determined by its fat content—higher fat content yields better earnings for the farmers. This factory produces exceptionally clean, high-quality Yak cheese and ghee (clarified butter). What makes this dairy unique? The animals graze in high-altitude pastures where they feed on medicinal herbs, including Yarsagumba. As a result, the milk, cheese, and ghee produced here are extremely organic and rich in health benefits. In this video, you will also see the herders digging up "Banko" (a local wild Himalayan root/plant) to make traditional bread. Banko is well known in the mountains for its high medicinal value. Traveler’s Note: Pikey Peak is also a stunning destination for trekkers and tourists, offering breathtaking mountain views and excellent hotel facilities for food and accommodation. If you ever get the chance, do visit Pikey Peak! Thank you so much for watching, supporting, and subscribing to the channel #NepalTrekking #YakCheese #highaltitudeliving #villagelifenepal #organicliving #DDCyakcheese #shepherd #himalayanshepherdlife
