Nepal Flash Flood Horror: 40 Homes Destroyed, 5 Missing In Gorkha; Rescue Operations Underway

A flash flood swept through Nepal’s Budhi Gandaki River valley in Gorkha district on Sunday morning, destroying an estimated 35–40 homes, damaging bridges and affecting a hydropower construction site. At least five people have been reported missing, while six were airlifted to safety by a Nepali Army helicopter. Rescue teams from the Nepali Army, police and Armed Police Force have been deployed to the affected areas. Authorities suspect a landslide may have temporarily blocked a tributary before water was suddenly released, although the cause of the flood remains under investigation. Residents living downstream have been urged to evacuate as rescue and relief operations continue.
