Two years ago I made a video beating all of MGS4's bosses without taking any damage, there was just one little "but" in that video, and that was the fact that I didn't actually beat Liquid Ocelot without taking any damage. I cleared the first two phases without taking a single hit, but I ran out of patience with the RNG hell that is the 3rd phase. Because you're forced to take a hit in the 4th/final phase anyway, I just thought "whatever, good enough" when I managed an almost no damage clear in the 3rd phase after getting a no damage clear in the first two.
I recently watched @imontheedgeofmyseat's No Damage/Traceless Big Boss Rank run of MGS4 and it inspired/motivated me to go back and rectify this. If there are people who have the patience to pull off that level of perfection, I have no excuse to not get this done.
It's no wonder that I didn't have the patience for this two years back, because it took me 8 HOURS of continuous suffering to finally get the perfect fight on Extreme. During those 8 hours there were many attempts with just one or two hits taken (before the 4th phase) and it was especially soul-crushing to get hit in the 3rd phase, because of something unavoidable no less. It says a lot about the 3rd phase's RNG factor that there were many moments in my successful attempt where I would've most certainly got hit if I had simply gotten worse RNG. Another thing that makes this fight in particular extremely frustrating to try to no damage is that if/when you do take a hit, you can't just quickly back out to the main menu, load the save and try again. No, you must either die (which takes quite some time unless it's the 2nd phase) then back out to the main menu from the 'Mission Failed'-screen (which forces you to click on 'Exit' twice), or just close the game entirely and boot it back up, which is what I usually did.
The reason why I did the fight on both The Boss Extreme and Liquid Easy is because on Liquid Easy you can actually do the entire fight without taking a single hit, even the 4th phase. I sincerely thought that it was possible to do so on higher difficulties than Liquid Easy, but in my experience that's not the case.
This is the Master Collection Vol. 2 version of the game, played on PS5.
