Why Your RTX 3080 Isn't Working

An MSI Gaming X Trio RTX 3080 10GB arrives with a water block installed and a reported "not detected" condition. Initial resistance checks show no shorts, and voltage probing reveals all power rails are present — except for the 1.8V PEX rail. Under the microscope, a blown feed resistor and a shorted PEX Buck Regulator are identified. In this repair, I replace both the faulty PEX buck regulator and the damaged series resistor, restoring the missing PEX voltage and bringing the card back to full detection and operation in Windows.
