Building Deep Metallic Patina Layer by Layer (Wait For The Bronze Reveal)

Discover how to create a textured abstract painting into a richly layered, weathered artwork using a faux rust effect, metallic colours and subtle patina-inspired details. In this full painting process, I work with warm pearl marmalade tones, deep black, metallic silver, purple and green before bringing everything together with a final bronze layer. Using a sponge to blend and soften the colours, I build depth, reveal the raised texture and create the appearance of aged metal and natural patina. Not every colour combination works out as expected! I wasn't entirely happy with the purple, so I decided to cover it and take the painting in a different direction.
