Robert "Bob" DeJonghe

Robert “Bob” Alan DeJonghe, 82, of Ridgeway passed away September 30, 2026, at Trinity Health Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He was born July 30, 1944, in Calumet, Michigan, to Albert R. and Rose Marie DeJonghe. Bob retired from Ford Motor Company after 35 years, in 1999. He was a man of many hobbies. In his younger years, he loved roller skating. He was a classic car and tractor enthusiast. Bob held a great love for nature and that served as a large inspiration to his wood work. His talent as a wood carver was extraordinary. He was also an avid fisherman and loved being out on the water. Robert is survived by his daughters, Susan (DeJonghe) Richardson (Terry) and Amy Jo DeJonghe who he shares with former wife, Ellen (Spreeman) Cubberly; grandchildren, Miranda Vazquez (Eliezer), Melissa Richardson-Aguirre (RJ), Jessica Richardson (Brian), and Justin Richardson (Heather), and 8 great-grand children; significant other Sharon Shures and her children Phillip (Mary) Shures, Rebeca (Rusty) Denike, two grand children, and 1 great-grand child. He is also survived by Alan DeJonghe, David (Jana) DeJonghe, Dennis (Patty) DeJonghe, and Edwin DeJonghe; sisters Rosalie (Jerry) Hawkins, Annette (Tom) Phelps, Rosemary (Marc) DeJonghe, Kathleen Eberle, DeeDee (Gary) Cupp, Julia (Chuck) Waters, Janice Hoffman, and Sandra DeJonghe, and brother-in-law John Jacobson; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard DeJonghe, sisters Sharon DeJonghe and Sylvia Jacobson, brother-in-laws Randy Eberle and Jerry Hawkins, and nephews Barry Hawkins, Steven DeJonghe, and Brian Hawkins. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI. Burial will follow in Ridgeway Cemetery.
