SEBASTIAN RAMSTEDT / NECROPHOBIC & ELDFODD

On this powerful installment of Tales From The Riff, I am joined by the legendary Swedish guitarist and songwriter Sebastian Ramstedt — a pivotal force behind the ferocious black/death metal legacy of Necrophobic, the occult firestorm of Eldfodd, and the raw Satanic chaos of Nifelheim. From the early days of Stockholm’s extreme metal underground to writing some of the most revered riffs in Scandinavian metal history, Sebastian reflects on the evolution of his creative approach, the spiritual philosophies that shape his music, and the relentless dedication required to uphold authenticity in a scene built on darkness and conviction. We dive into: • Crafting the unmistakable melodic-yet-menacing signature of Necrophobic • His journey through multiple bands and the artistic truths each project reveals • How mythology, ritual, and personal experience channel themselves into riffs • The state of modern metal — and guarding the flame against compromise Insightful, passionate, and razor-sharp — Sebastian offers a rare look into the mind of a creator who continues to define the sound of extreme metal.
