After 4 years of full-time travel, we have developed our own premium leather passport wallet for couples and families. It is manufactured in Istanbul, and it is officially LIVE!

We just made our way to Montana and are so excited because my little brother has met us out here. We have had a full weekend in Glacier National Park so far. We hiked to both Hidden Lake and Avalanche Lake, we went horseback riding and even rented paddle boards on Lake McDonald.
Today we will be hiking one of the most popular trails in the park, the Highline Trail to Grinnell Glacier Overlook. The hike is roughly 16 miles round trip and it follows along the Continental Divide, also known as the Garden Wall.
We have a super early morning and arrive in the park before 5:00AM. It takes us around an hour to get to Logan's Pass where the hike begins.
We get on the trail before the sun is even up. The Highline Trail is supposed to be one of the best hikes in Glacier National Park. It starts out following above Going-to-the-Sun Road, which has stunning views in every direction.
Around 1/4 of a mile in, we arrive at the ledge that is pretty narrow with very steep drop offs. It is still pretty dark at this point so we cannot really see what is below us. Luckily this segment only lasts for three-tenths of a mile and there is a hand cable along this stretch so we make it through with no issues.
The sun makes its way up shortly thereafter and begins lighting up the mountains around us. We take in the incredible views as we continue our way along the trail.
Soon we begin a short but relatively steep climb up to Haystack Pass. The pass forms the saddle between Haystack Butte and the Garden Wall and offers incredible views of the upper McDonald Creek Valley.
Beyond Haystack Pass the trail continues a gradual climb up along the slopes of the Garden Wall. We reach the highest point on the trail at 7280 feet and then begin descending towards Granite Park.
At around 7 miles we reach the Garden Wall Trail turn off which leads to the Grinnell Glacier Overlook. This is the steepest section of the whole hike, we ascend more than 900 feet in less than nine-tenths of a mile.
We slowly make our way up this final steep part and after nearly 8 miles of hiking, we reach the Grinnell Glacier Overlook. We are rewarded with amazing views of the glacier and multiple alpine lakes below us. We soak in the views before making our way back down.
After the steep section down, we turn back on the Highline Trail and make the long, remaining 7 mile trek back to the car. The trail has more up than we would probably prefer for the way back, but we have amazing views the entire way to keep us motivated.
After we finish the hike, we drive the Going-to-the-Sun Road back down to Lake McDonald. We set up our hammocks and relax for the rest of the afternoon.
