Cloudy Day Landscape Photography

After six straight days of bad weather, I had to get out of the camper. The skies were still gray and the light wasn’t promising, but I headed to New River Beach Provincial Park to see whether these difficult conditions could still produce a photograph worth keeping. Located along New Brunswick’s beautiful Bay of Fundy, New River Beach features an expansive tidal beach, rocky shoreline and scenic coastal trails. During this landscape photography adventure, I explore the park, search for compositions in the flat overcast light and photograph the rugged coastline. I also take a closer look at the enormous Bay of Fundy tides, which can reach approximately 46 feet in this region and completely transform the landscape. Cloudy conditions may not provide the dramatic sunrise or sunset light landscape photographers usually hope for, but they can still create atmosphere, texture and opportunities to slow down and see a location differently.
