Welcome to the town of Bankya - Bulgaria. Location: Bankya is located about 15–17 km west of Sofia. Nature: It lies at the foothills of the Lyulin Mountain, at an elevation of around 600–750 m. Mineral Water: It is famous for its healing mineral springs, used for centuries. Clean Air: The air is rich in ozone and is considered лечебен (healing). History and Significance: The area has been inhabited by the Thracians for more than 2,500 years. Roman remains have been discovered, including buildings, walls, and sewage systems. It was first mentioned in written records in the 15th century. It became a town in 1969 and part of Sofia in 1979. Resort and Health: Bankya is a national balneological resort. It specializes in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The mineral water is about 36.5°C and very чиста (pure). The famous mineral bath was built in 1911.
