Midnight | The Shadows Cover

This is my first tryout with my 'new' Watkins Copicat. It is a mint 1963 model completely untouched still with original valves, tape heads and one very careful owner before me :) On the original recording of this song, the guitar tone is quite on the edge of breakup for a Shads number. So seeing as how the Copicat has a nice valve pre-amp stage, I dialled in just the right amount of grit. Amp-wise I'm using a Vox AC4TV upgraded with a Weber 10 inch Alnico Blue Pup and a 12AT7 in the preamp stage instead of a 12AX7. This gives the amp a lot more clean headroom enabling you to drive the power amp stage a bit more.
