He was a young, poor, meek kid Back in the 40's in Brooklyn Shook when the second world war hit He tried to enlist, it was all he ever wished This kid was bolder, they chose him to become A super soldier The star-spangled banner boy Used as a toy, not a heavy-hitter Became a war figure, but never much bigger So he became bitter when they said That they would begin to pay him to punch Hitler And every day American men were shot, Killed on the spot, our super soldier Struggled to keep composure Inside, he was longing for something More than exposure, see son, he wanted To get a gun and mow 'em over Then the chance finally came Steve Rogers knew just what he could do He heard his friend Bucky was trapped as a P.O.W. Took a helment and supplies, Had 'em back before sunrise He'd proved himself worthy In more than just his eyes Well, the world got around, they said This Captain's a hero He fights for what is right, And will never settle for zero Get yourself a weapon, yes, I think this shield will do the trick And the world's gonna think you're slick What's your name, son? He's Captain America Steve Rogers is Captain America And there's a million lives he's gotta save So just you wait, just you wait... Well, as the war went farther Steve Rogers became a martyr Defeated the Red Skull He's worthy of every honor In the end, defending us Had cost him his life, 'Cause when his plane went down He got trapped in the ice Then an organization called S.H.I.E.L.D. Had formed after the war Focusing efforts on fighting Fights that we cannot afford They found someone frozen, preserved Beneath the ice So they thawed the body out And they brought him back to life There would've been nothin' Left to do, this was a huge surprise He should've been dead, but there he was Thawed and very much alive Started stirring Woke up in a world he didn't recognize Didn't know that he'd been frozen stiff Since 1945 Then a man told him They found him trapped in the North Atlantic Gave him a choice, he could either listen Or give in to panic Nick Fury spoke about a team he was makin' He wanted Cap to join him, and no, he wasn't fakin' As an Avenger, you can really save lives (Just you wait) As an Avenger, you can really save lives (Just you wait) As an Avenger, you can really save lives An Avenger! Just you wait! He's Captain America (He's Captain America) And we're trusting our lives to him (Trusting our lives to him) He could never back down, he knows just what to do to...win!
