He used it for decades, then left it behind to rust in the barn. In this deep restoration project, I take an old forgotten blade and bring it back to life. The tool was completely neglected: rotten wooden scales, seized pins, and heavy pitting across the steel. I had to force the handle apart, treat the metal in an acid vinegar bath, clean the deep corrosion, and build custom wooden scales with epoxy. Finally, after hours on water stones, this rusted blade cuts cleanly once again.
