Get confident in reading scientific names! Scientific names might seem intimidating, especially if you're not used to using them. However, there is a system in which they're composed (binomial naming system) and there is a lot you can learn about an organism just from its name. Also, did you know that not all scientific names are in Latin (or Greek)? And why is it important to know that?
In this video, I guide you through real-life examples to explain individual parts of scientific names (genus, species, authorship and publication date) and show you some common symbols and abbreviations you might come across along with scientific names.
