English Description August 4, 2024|Hino, Tokyo This walk explores Hino, often described as the hometown of the Shinsengumi. Rather than following the Shinsengumi’s better-known history in Kyoto, this trip focuses on the people, families and local networks that connected many of its future members before they left the Tama region. Hino was the birthplace of Hijikata Toshizo and Inoue Genzaburo. Kondo Isami, Okita Soji and other members of Tennen Rishin-ryu also had strong connections with the area. The first stop was the Inoue Genzaburo Museum, maintained by descendants of the Inoue family and containing historical materials related to Inoue, the Shinsengumi and the Hachioji Sennin Doshin. I then visited the Sato Hikogoro Shinsengumi Museum. Sato Hikogoro was the headman of Hino-shuku, a relative of Hijikata Toshizo, and a practitioner of Tennen Rishin-ryu. His home and dojo became an important meeting place for men who would later form the core of the Shinsengumi. Nearby stands Hino-shuku Honjin, one of the most significant surviving buildings on this route. Unlike a modern reconstruction, this building already existed during the late Edo period. Kondo Isami, Hijikata Toshizo and other future Shinsengumi members actually visited this house. After stopping at the Hino-shuku visitor center, I continued uphill past Yamashita Shrine and its long staircase to the Shinsengumi Furusato History Museum. The museum brings together the broader history of Hino-shuku, Tennen Rishin-ryu, the Tama region and the formation of the Shinsengumi. This visit did not include the Hijikata Toshizo Museum, located at the site of his family home, but it remains another important stop for a more complete Shinsengumi tour of Hino. The walk ended near Takahatafudo before returning home. This was not a journey through the Shinsengumi’s most famous years in Kyoto, but a walk through the place where many of their relationships began. CC subtitles are available for additional historical information. 影片章節 / Timestamps 00:00 從東京都立大學出發前往日野 / Heading to Hino 00:32 八王子轉乘中央線 / Transfer at Hachioji 01:00 抵達日野站・新選組故鄉巡禮開始 / Arriving in Hino 02:02 井上源三郎資料館 / Inoue Genzaburo Museum 03:20 佐藤彥五郎新選組資料館 / Sato Hikogoro Shinsengumi Museum 03:58 日野宿本陣・幕末留下來的舊宅 / Hino-shuku Honjin 06:30 日野宿交流館 / Hino-shuku Visitor Center 06:46 開始往山坡上走 / Walking Uphill 07:28 山下神明社與百段階梯 / Yamashita Shrine Stairway 08:06 新選組故鄉歷史館 / Shinsengumi Furusato History Museum 09:58 離開歷史館・日野街景與藍莓園 / Leaving the Museum 11:03 抵達高幡不動・吃麵後回程 / Takahatafudo & Return 11:52 日野新選組巡禮結束 / End of the Hino Walk Hashtags #新選組 #日野 #土方歲三 #井上源三郎 #近藤勇 #佐藤彥五郎 #日野宿本陣 #天然理心流 #新選組故鄉歷史館 #高幡不動 #東京散步 #幕末 #Shinsengumi #Hino #HijikataToshizo #JapaneseHistory #TokyoWalk
