Today I'm reacting to The Beatles – “Two of Us,” from their 1970 album Let It Be. There's something incredibly special about watching John Lennon and Paul McCartney singing together here. “Two of Us” was written by Paul McCartney and originally inspired by time spent with Linda McCartney, but hearing John and Paul sharing those vocals inevitably gives the song another emotional dimension — particularly knowing that the Beatles were approaching the end of their time together. Despite all the tensions surrounding the band's final period, when John and Paul lock into those harmonies, you're reminded immediately of the chemistry that made Lennon and McCartney one of the most celebrated musical partnerships in history. The acoustic guitars, harmonies and wonderfully relaxed feel make this sound deceptively simple. But underneath it is that unmistakable Beatles magic. Watching it all these years later, knowing what happened next, makes the moment feel even more poignant. What does “Two of Us” mean to you? Do you hear it primarily as Paul's song about Linda, or is it impossible not to think about John and Paul when you hear them singing it together? #TheBeatles #TwoOfUs #LennonMcCartney Topics covered in this reaction include The Beatles, Two of Us, The Beatles Two of Us, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Lennon and McCartney, Two of Us reaction, Beatles reaction, Let It Be, The Beatles final years, Beatles harmonies, John and Paul singing together, classic rock, 1970 music and first-time Beatles reactions.
