Rebel Wolves' first foray into role-playing games brings with it a whole myriad of wonderful ideas. From its directional parrying and Witcher 3-coded quests, to the time mechanic which is supposed to give the player more agency when choosing which quests to embark on, "The Blood of Dawnwalker" is a treasure trove of great ideas that just aren't implemented in an ideal manner. Chief among them is the aforementioned 30-day timer, which is also the focus of this video. In this video I'd like to discuss why I don't think The Blood of Dawnwalker's time system is all that well implemented and proposing some changes to it. If you'd like to hear my thoughts condensed into a short slogan: The Blood of Dawnwalker's timer is too lenient for anyone that takes it seriously, while also being a big hurdle to overcome for anyone that suffers from anxiety / FOMO. That is why I believe it misses its mark and comes across as a pretty poorly implemented system that needs tweaking. While I'm not saying that tying the number of days Coen has to save his family to the difficulty settings would alleviate all of this game's problems, it would be a step in the right direction if the plan was to make it an immersive element that pushes the player into carefully picking and choosing which quests to pursue, and which quests to ignore. The SEO tool I use doesn't think I've written "Blood of Dawnwalker" enough, so here is me writing "The Blood of Dawnwalker" a few more times, just to be sure...
