Is this how we’re supposed to use AI in music?

Haha, I believe I may have found a good use for AI in music: use it to build a f@%# synth! This is my first proper play with the DSP synth I called The Jein. For a while I’ve been wanting an ‪@EricaSynths‬ SYNTRX II. There’s something really inspiring about the EMS-style modulation matrix, so I thought: why not try to build something inspired by that using AI, tweak the concept a bit, and throw in some ideas inspired by the new Verbos Electronics Haas Zone Processor while I’m at it? I’ve also implemented MIDI, but didn’t map the controller for this video. This of course doesn’t change the fact that I still want a SYNTRX II, and a computer can never replace the feeling of physical hardware. But I’m already looking into whether it’s possible to modify the firmware on different hardware synths using AI — for example, adding new voices and P-models to the PĒRKONS could be cool. I’m thinking we’ve already entered an era that could really change how we use synths. You’ll be able to get more out of the hardware you already own — swap out parts of the instrument, change how it behaves, and shape it more to your own liking. Maybe we’ll even see hardware built around that idea from the start: one box, one platform, where you simply choose the building blocks yourself. ...and I’ve already built another AI synth, so there’ll be another video soon.
