All Sufficiency of Jesus Christ

Scripture defines faith as the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Last week we saw how faith in unexpected places informs how we are called to approach Jesus. As we consider our own faith, sometimes we wonder what characteristics our faith should embody. Mark 8:1-21 begins to answer that question for us in a three-part collection of stories. These stories include a familiar miracle, a demand for another miracle, and a warning against the demands. In this passage Jesus continues to reveal himself to the crowds, his disciples, and even the Pharisees, but he does it on his terms. Jesus shows that he is capable of providing for all the needs of his people in ways that should cause us to remember who he is and his kindness to us.
