We Took Our Caravan Through Croc Waters… Cairns to Cooktown Adventure

This trip is the definition of Far North Queensland adventure. We rolled out of Cairns in the Ford Ranger with the Austrack Talawana X16B hitched up and headed straight into the rainforest giants of the Daintree. From there, the road opened up into the raw coastline of Cooktown, before pulling into the iconic Lions Den Hotel — a must‑stop for anyone heading north. The wild didn’t stop at the pub. We found ourselves swimming in proper croc country, the kind of water that makes your heart beat a little harder, before pushing deeper into the Cape and finishing the run at Musgrave Roadhouse. Remote roads, river crossings, rainforest, red dirt, and that feeling of being way out there with your rig — this is FNQ at its best.
