Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya's tenure with the South African Police Service came to an end after police management recorded his departure as a dishonourable discharge. The official classification followed the submission of a resignation letter by his legal representatives right as his internal disciplinary hearing was starting. National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed in a statement shared on Facebook that SAPS terminated Sibiya's employment immediately upon receiving the notice. Under police regulations, an officer who steps down while actively facing internal disciplinary actions cannot leave through a standard voluntary resignation. Consequently, because his departure occurred during an ongoing case, the service designated his exit as a dishonourable discharge.
