Samba | Ritmo y Sabor 2025: Vuelta a Las Américas

Pack your bags and take off with Ritmo y Sabor’s Vuelta a las Américas. Our flight continues over to Brazil. If there’s one dance style you probably know from my country, I’d guess it is Samba! Choreographed by Antoinette Kersaint, she hopes to capture the fun, energetic, and culturally rich history of this style. Samba derives from West African rhythms and dance forms, which took root in the Bahia region of Brazil and were then popularized in Rio de Janeiro. It was and is a symbol of religious connectedness, a revolutionary act when it was banned by the Brazilian government, and eventually the foundation of what it meant to be Brazilian through the country’s many samba schools and Carneval.
