Being raised in Glasgow, moulded by Brisbane, and now Melbourne-based, suggested a unique potion. The Julius Myles sound however always returns to one thing; SOUL. Inspired by the sounds that have emanated from the likes of New York & Chicago, JM pulls from his upbringing, seeking sounds that have a timeless quality. Combining music from labels such as ‘Glasgow Underground’ in Scotland & ‘Shelter Records’ in NY, has fueled an addiction to high-emotional strings, flange-dripped loops, slapping basslines and soulful vocals that make you want to close-eyed dance. Expect Deep House rarities & B-side Disco curveballs with a modern touch that keep things strange & playful. This all culminates in a very intentional sound crafted for sweaty and euphoric floors.
Emerging as a fresh voice within Australia’s underground while carrying a deep-rooted musical history, Julius has played across some of Melbourne and Brisbane’s most respected listening rooms and intimate clubs, including Black Bear Lodge, QUIVR, Section 8, Rumbler Bar, Solace, Angel Music Bar, Rooftop Bar, Black Cat, Flying Colours, Fifty-Five Bar, Killing Time and Revolver Upstairs. He has also supported heavyweights like Jordan Burns and Little Fritter, while sharing lineups with locally respected selectors Miles Ahead and Kuzco. Beyond the booth, he’s a committed vinyl digger, known for digging deep and stitching together selections that feel personal, playful and unpredictable.
2026 is shaping up to be an exciting year for JM, as his event & label Burnin’ grows into larger rooms, alongside a run of carefully crafted releases developed through close collaborations with fellow musicians and vocalists. Still grounded in the love of the craft, he remains focused on growth, honest connection and letting the music speak first.
