Wreck dive on the SS President Coolidge at Luganville, Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu — a 199 m American luxury liner turned WWII troopship, lost on 26 October 1942 when she struck two friendly mines entering the Segond Channel. Her captain beached her and 5,340 men walked off; only two died, including Capt Elwood Euart, who went back in to save patients in the infirmary. Now lying on her port side from ~21 m at the bow to ~70 m at the stern, famous for "The Lady" porcelain relief — one of the greatest wreck dives in the world.
