Saturday night in downtown Nashville starts from above. Streetwalkin’ Ep. 94 opens at the rooftop pool before we head downstairs and hit the streets for a faster-than-usual lap through downtown. Broadway, 2nd Avenue, 3rd Avenue, Printers Alley, back through 2nd and eventually right into Lower Broadway again. The forecast spends most of the night threatening rain, but Nashville gets away with little more than some mist and drizzle. Enough to leave wet pavement, reflections and puddles everywhere, but not enough to derail the night. The first part of this episode moves. Instead of lingering in one spot, we keep the pace up and work through a big chunk of the downtown nightlife district before eventually slowing things down on Broadway. Then Streetwalkin’ becomes Streetwalkin’ again. We spend some time simply watching Lower Broadway go by, catching the crowds, random interactions, neon, live music and the usual assortment of people who apparently become much more interesting after dark. Later, Phoebe Bridgers fans pour out of Bridgestone Arena, adding another wave of people to the downtown mix while we continue navigating damp sidewalks and strategically avoiding puddles. Not a monsoon. Not a giant event night. Just a good Saturday evening moving through downtown Nashville before settling into the Honky Tonk Highway and letting the night come to us.
