While working there he produced many works inspired by Japanese traditional music. He made an opera "Sakura" in the Japanese language, a "Symphonie Japonaise," a Concerto Japonesa for Piano, a Symphonic Poem "Mihara Yama," and other small scale works. Some of these works not only utilizes Japanese style and modes, it also incorporates traditional Japanese instruments.
