Andante doloroso 10:40 III. Allegro con spirito ma moderato ------------------ Claude Lapham worked as music director of Columbia Records in Japan in the 1930s. While working there he produced many works inspired by Japanese traditional music. He made an opera "Sakura" in the Japanese language, a "Symphonie Japonaise," a Concerto Japonesa for Piano, a Symphonic Poem "Mihara Yama," and other small scale works. Some of these works not only utilizes Japanese style and modes, it also incorporates traditional Japanese instruments.
