Rice Cultivation in Salts affected Soils:
In this video, I will try to briefly explain the complete growing technique of rice cultivation in saline soils or sodic soils. Farmers should adopt some care or some techniques while growing rice crop in salts affected soil. Although rice crop can successfully be cultivated in all type of soils except sandy soil.
Farmers can utilize their saline or sodic soil by growing rice crop there.
Farmers can reclaim their soil or land by growing rice crop.
Gypsum can be used or applied in sodic soil to reclaim it or to grow rice crop there.
Heavy irrigation after deep plough can favour rice cultivation in saline soils.
Seedling raising or nursery raising should be performed on loamy fit soils.
Seedling age must be 35 to 45 days at time of plantation.
Salts tolerant basmati varieties should be grown on salts affected soils. Such as Shaheen basmati, NIAB Irri 9 variety etc. These are salts tolerant or salts resistant basmati and fine varieties. Acidic fertilizers such as Ssp, Nitrophos and ammonium sulphate, CAN gwara etc should be used in these soil while cultivating rice crop. SOP and Ssp must be applied at land preparation or seedlings transplantation time. Nitrogenous fertilizers must be applied in 3 to 4 splits.
