Located at the Triveni Sangam (confluence of the three rivers) and on the shores of the Arabian Sea in Veraval (Prabhas Patan) in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat, this temple is the greatest symbol of Indian faith, unwavering devotion, and resilience. 1. Mythological Belief (Religious History) Moon God (Som) and the Curse of Liberation: According to mythology, Prajapati Daksha cursed Moon God (Som) with tuberculosis because he loved Rohini the most among his 27 wives (Daksha's daughters). Mahadev's Penance: To be freed from the curse, Moon God (Som) performed severe penance to Lord Shiva in the Prabhas region. Lord Shiva, pleased, appeared before him and nullified the curse, causing the moon to wax and wane. It is believed that the Moon God built the first temple of gold here to express his gratitude. Following this, the Sun God built a temple of silver, Lord Krishna built a temple of sandalwood, and later, King Bhimdev built a temple of stone.
