Why Did We Buy More Grass Fields? Our New Silage Plan Begins | From 0 to 10 Million | Timelapse #18

Welcome back to the Mindenerwald Farm Timelapse. Our day begins with taking care of the cows. We prepare a balanced feed mixture in the mixer wagon and provide fresh straw before heading back to the fields. The sugar beets need attention, so we attach the heavy weeder and remove the weeds before applying a second round of fertilizer. With the crop taken care of, we head to our wood-processing operation and sell the products that have accumulated there. The extra income gives us an opportunity to make our next major investment. We need a stronger and more reliable feed supply for our cattle, so we purchase several grass fields close to the farm. Our plan is to turn this grass into silage and build up a large feed reserve for the cows. To begin the new operation, we buy mowers and a windrower and bring two machines to the grass fields. The mowers are mounted on our Unimog, while the tractor takes care of the windrowing. We mow all of our newly purchased grass fields and gather the cut grass into clean windrows. But mowing is only the beginning. Once the fields are finished, we return to the dealership and invest in a baler. Now we can begin turning all that grass into bales — the next step toward producing our own silage. The silage operation has officially begun, but there is still plenty of work ahead.
