Hal Jordan's ring says five percent in episode six. By episode seven it says two. It's draining exactly the way it should — and I don't think the number matters at all. This is my Lanterns theory going into the season one finale, built only on what the show has actually put on screen: the trick Hal taught John for squeezing charge out of a dying ring, the deadline the Hal-o-gram sets three separate times and then walks straight past, and the two moments nobody in the show can explain — the bird construct in episode two that stays in the air with no ring on John's hand, and the hologram in episode seven that refuses to disappear when John takes the ring off and sets it down. I also take the show's own counter-explanation seriously, because John says it out loud: he can't recharge it, it isn't his, he isn't the Green Lantern. And then the hologram asks him what he is instead. Everything up to the last section comes straight from the episodes. What comes after is my own reading, ahead of "Dirt and Stars" on October 4. Which way do you think it lands? Drop your call in the comments before Sunday and I'll pin the sharpest one after the finale. Lanterns is streaming on HBO Max. #Lanterns #GreenLantern #DCU
