Living in the Netherlands as a foreigner has made me notice some interesting differences in the way people approach everyday shopping and spending money. There are things many of us buy without thinking twice, but after observing everyday life in the Netherlands, I’ve started looking at some of these habits differently. In this video, I’m sharing 10 things that are often unnecessary purchases — from bottled water and disposable products to kitchen gadgets, trendy decorations and things we replace instead of repairing. Do Dutch people really avoid all these things? Of course not! Every household is different. But some of the practical habits I’ve noticed here offer useful lessons about spending less, buying more thoughtfully and avoiding unnecessary clutter. In this video, we’ll explore: Why buying cheap things can sometimes cost you more When second-hand shopping makes sense Why repairing can be better than replacing How unnecessary kitchen gadgets take over our cupboards Why discounts can tempt us to spend more, not less Simple ways to rethink everyday shopping habits I’m a foreigner living in the Netherlands, sharing my observations about Dutch culture, everyday life and the little things that can change how we live. QUESTION FOR YOU: Which of these things do you buy regularly, and which would you happily stop buying? Tell me in the comments!
