India vs NZ T20 Squad: Rewarding Form or Short-Term Thinking?

India vs New Zealand 2026 T20 squad review: Bhuvneshwar Kumar is back! A deserved comeback—but what does it tell us about Team India’s selection strategy for the New Zealand tour? Cricbuzz Join Vishal Purohit and Dharmesh Shah on Gully Gupshup as we debate Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s return, India’s T20 squad selection and the balance between rewarding experience and building for the future. With 28 wickets in IPL 2026, Bhuvi made a strong case for another opportunity—but at 36, where does he fit into India’s longer-term plans? Cricbuzz Comeback pe sawaal nahi… planning pe sawaal hai! 🏏 Can Bhuvneshwar’s new-ball swing and experience make the difference in New Zealand? What happens when conditions offer less assistance? We discuss his potential role as a senior bowler, the value of specialist skills and whether IPL performances should be the deciding factor in international selection. The debate also covers Jasprit Bumrah’s workload management, balancing priorities across T20Is, ODIs and Test cricket, and why picking too many bits-and-pieces all-rounders can create more questions than answers. Where does a genuine match-winner like Hardik Pandya fit into that conversation? We examine Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan’s wicketkeeping roles, Kuldeep Yadav’s place in the bowling attack, and the wider selection picture involving Washington Sundar, Mukesh Kumar and the India A squad. Does India have a clear plan across formats—or are we looking at separate decisions without a common direction? And with Bhuvi getting another opportunity, could Mohammed Shami also find a route back? We discuss the possibility—not a confirmed selection—and what rewarding experienced performers means for Indian cricket. Our verdict: back a veteran who has earned his chance—but keep asking the bigger questions about team balance, fitness and the road ahead. 💬 Bhuvi’s comeback: smart selection for New Zealand, a long-overdue reward—or both?
