Parkmore railway station originally built as part of the ballymena, cushendall and red bay railway, which functioned as a mineral line to haul iron ore from local mines It later became a remote narrow-gauge passenger terminus that was a popular gateway for tourists visiting glenariff. It operated from 1888 to 1930
