Bizet's L'Arlésienne Suite No. 1 — the Prelude (beginning), Sir Thomas Beecham conducting the London Philharmonic Orchestra, on a Columbia Masterworks 78 (70496-D, from album set MX-69, recorded c. 1936). An original 78 rpm shellac record, played straight from the disc on a real turntable. No remastering, no noise reduction — just the sound of the record exactly as it was pressed, surface noise and all. Duffy's Den posts a new 78 every day, pulled from a growing collection of vintage shellac from the 1920s through the 1950s: big band, swing, country, crooners, jazz, pop and more. Subscribe and hit the bell so you never miss a spin. If you know more about this record — the session, the musicians, the pressing — drop it in the comments. I love learning the history behind these discs. Many of the records you see here are for sale in my eBay store: https://ebay.us/m/g0atwN #78rpm #VintageMusic #ShellacRecords #NeedleDrop #Bizet #ThomasBeecham #LondonPhilharmonic #ClassicalMusic #ColumbiaMasterworks #OldRecords #RecordCollecting
