Description:
Sometimes I wonder whether I am walking through a city that has been left behind, or through a landscape that exists somewhere inside me.
The streets are empty. The buildings are worn down. Machines still move, drones cross the sky, automated systems keep the lights on, and clocks still keep time. AI and machines continue to maintain the infrastructure, almost stubbornly, long after the people who gave it purpose have disappeared.
The city is still functioning.
But it is not alive.
And I keep wondering which world I am actually looking at.
Is this an abandoned city, slowly surviving the aftermath of some catastrophe?
Or is the city only the shape my inner world has taken after going through its own?
Maybe the ruined buildings are real. Maybe they are memories. Maybe the empty stations, distant signals, autonomous machines and lights are simply fragments of a mind that keeps functioning long after it has forgotten what it was functioning for.
I don't know.
Sometimes, in the small hours of the night, the distinction disappears.
The city outside becomes the city inside.
And for a little while, I am not sure which one I am walking through...
