Messi vs Ronaldo: Who REALLY Wins Stat by Stats?

In this video we put Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo head to head in 7 rounds, one stat per round: Ballon d'Or, UCL goals, Intl goals, Assists, Trophies, Hat-tricks and Goals. Each round races the cumulative total year by year; whoever is ahead in the round's last year takes the point, and a tied round is half a point each. Methodology: The dataset holds 303 reported yearly values between 2002 and 2026, every series cumulative. Round 1 (Ballon d'Or): Ballon d'Or awards counted by the year of the edition. Round 2 (UCL goals): UEFA Champions League goals from the group or league stage to the final, qualifiers excluded. Round 3 (Intl goals): Goals for the senior national team, friendlies included (2026 so far). Round 4 (Assists): Assists in official senior matches for club and country as recorded by Transfermarkt (2026 so far). Round 5 (Trophies): Senior team trophies with clubs and the national team counted in the year they were won; youth and Olympic titles excluded; Ronaldo's includes the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup (2026 so far). Round 6 (Hat-tricks): Official senior matches with three or more goals for club and country (2026 so far). Round 7 (Goals): Official senior goals for club and country in all competitions; Ronaldo's total includes his 6 Arab Club Champions Cup goals from 2023 (2026 so far). Primary data sources: Figures were compiled from Transfermarkt match-by-match statistics and title records, Michel Acosta Messi vs Ronaldo goal database (michelacosta.com) and France Football Ballon d'Or winners list.
