General Vang Pao’s Helicopter Ride

Mai Yia Thao remembers the love shared among General Vang Pao and his commanding officers, and her undying love and devotion to the leader of the Hmong people at the time. She reminds us that the fight to survive can bring out the worst in others. How We Got Here is a collection of interviews of immigrants and refugees on their journey from their home country to America. The stories in this collection are solely the personal experiences of the person who lived to tell it. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
