In 1936, police at California’s border turned back families just because their cars looked old and worn. Ninety years later, Americans are living in their cars again. In San Francisco, the number of lived-in vehicles jumped from 474 to 612 in a single year while tents nearly disappeared. In Los Angeles, homeless adults over 55 rose 13.5% in one year. This video follows one night in a car, hour by hour, and shows how a working person ends up there.
