You do not need a hidden room to make a practical safety plan for a home where you live alone. The harder question is what you will decide when something feels wrong and you have only partial information. In this episode, Ray walks through five decisions to make on a calm day: when to stop checking and avoid investigating, how to call for help, when a safe exit may be available, where you can wait and communicate if leaving would put you in danger, and how to test and update the plan as your needs change.
The emphasis is on clear routes, a reachable phone, accessible essentials, and choices that fit your own mobility and home. An ordinary room is not a certified panic room, and the best response can change with the situation. Fire and smoke require a separate escape plan. If you suspect immediate danger, contact emergency services and follow the dispatcher's instructions. Nothing here guarantees that a crime can be prevented.
Which part of a personal emergency plan would you check first? Please keep your address, schedule, and exit details private.
