Ashen Harbor - When the Power Went Out (Official Audio)

Official Audio for "When the Power Went Out" by Ashen Harbor Lyrics: Nine twenty-two, the transformer blew And every window disappeared The elevator stopped on four Somebody laughed, somebody swore Doors opened up along the hallway Faces I'd seen but never known The old man from the third floor Brought six candles from his home Someone had ice cream in a cooler Said, “Eat it now or let it die” So fifteen strangers sat together In the dark on a July night When the power went out The building came alive No little glowing screens No separate worlds to hide We sat out in the hallway Let the summer air come through Funny what we found in darkness When the power went out A kid from five came down with a guitar Missing one string, out of tune Played three chords he barely knew And somehow nobody left the room The woman living right beside me Said she'd been there seven years I knew the sound of all her footsteps But I'd never heard her laugh from here Someone opened up the stairwell We could see the city black For once there wasn't any signal And nobody asked for it back When the power went out The building came alive No little glowing screens No separate worlds to hide We sat out in the hallway Let the summer air come through Funny what we found in darkness When the power went out At one fourteen the ceiling hummed Then every bulb went white The refrigerator kicked back on The television found its light Someone cheered Someone said, “Well, that's that” Then one by one the doors began to close The woman from beside me waited And said, “Same time tomorrow?” I said, “Why not?” Now the power's back on Every window has its glow But I know who lives behind them More than I did a night ago Sometimes doors stay open Even when the lights come through Funny what we found in darkness When the power went out Next night at nine twenty-two Someone knocked I opened the door CREDITS Artist: ASHEN HARBOR Written and created by ASHEN HARBOR Produced by ASHEN HARBOR Album: Static Between Us © & ℗ 2026 ASHEN HARBOR.
