Every day the trees of the Amazon breathe out around 20 billion tonnes of water, more than the Amazon River itself carries to the sea. Scientists call it a flying river: it crosses the continent on the wind, turns south along the Andes and falls as rain on the Pantanal, the soy fields, the coffee hills and the reservoirs of São Paulo. This film follows that water across Brazil, from the Meeting of the Waters near Manaus to a dry valley in the northeast where grapes are picked more than twice a year.
