Welcome back, Railfans! Welcome to Big Boy Week: Day 3! I am your host, The Tank Commander. And today, we travel on down to the Southern Tier of New York State, where we get to see Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 come barreling down the former Erie Railroad tracks as it makes its way towards Philadelphia and the celebration of the 250th birthday of the United States! The last time a steam locomotive charges down this line was back in 2015, when Nickel Plate Road 765 got to head across the old 1875 viaduct. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to go and see that happen, as I was in high school at the time. Nevertheless, this was an event worth seeing.
A lot of driving had to be done to make this catch. . . . . Or should I say pair of catches. . . Possible. Having to travel out to Letchworth State Park early in the morning, and then have to travel all the way down to Hornell to catch 4014 there. . . . . It was WORTH IT. I loved every single bit of it. I would’ve traveled even further, but this was more than enough for me for this day. I may be nuts, but I haven’t reached maniac levels just yet.
I want to give the first shoutout of this video to my new friend, Eben. I had so much fun chatting with you, Eb! There is nothing like the feeling of meeting a fellow nerd and going about having conversations that can just last hours if possible. Thanks for coming all the way down from Maine to see 4014, mate! I hope you and your folks had as much of a blast as I did!
A huge shoutout also has to go to fellow YouTuber , who came all the way from Southern California to chase 4014 through here! Lads and lasses, give this guy a huge round of applause for this railfanning power move! Railfanner, it was great meeting you in person! I hope you had a great time there! And I hope to see more of your content in the future!
I really hope you all enjoyed this third video in the series. I will revel in the memories made this week. And I hope you all had as as much fun watching this video as I did making it.
Thank you so much for watching, and I will see you next time. Happy railfanning!
