What if hackers don't need to break into your systems?
What if they can simply convince someone to let them in?
Microsoft recently documented an active social-engineering campaign targeting cloud identities, where attackers impersonated IT support and used authentication-focused techniques to compromise accounts and gain access to cloud resources.
At almost the same time, investigations into LG smart TVs raised questions about network discovery, content recognition, data collection, and audio-related behavior. LG has disputed key allegations around continuous ambient recording and says its voice features operate differently from how some reports have characterized them.
These stories look completely different.
One is about corporate cloud accounts.
The other is about a television sitting in your living room.
But they reveal the same cybersecurity problem:
We give things access because we trust them.
And whenever something has access, it becomes part of your attack surface.
In this video, we look at identity attacks, social engineering, cloud access, smart devices, IoT security, phishing-resistant authentication, and why the traditional idea of a cybersecurity perimeter is becoming harder to maintain.
Sometimes the attacker doesn't break the door.
They convince you to open it.
