Music is not thought out; it is felt.
AUM is an audio mixer, recorder, and plug-in host (Audio Unit v3) developed by Kymatica.
Key features of AUM on iOS
Flexible mixer and routing: Connect hardware inputs and outputs, Audio Unit extensions, Inter-App Audio apps, Audiobus, and audio players in any combination.
Advanced MIDI matrix: Allows for routing and filtering MIDI channels, controlling plug-in parameters, and synchronizing virtual instruments or external hardware.
Integrated recording: Record stereo mixes or individual tracks directly to the AudioShare shared storage space.
Native processing: Includes essential tools for equalization, filtering, dynamics, limiting, and saturation on every channel.
Synchronization: Compatible with Ableton Link and MIDI clock for playing in time with other apps or devices.
AUv3s Plugins used or shown in this video.
Instruments or Generators(Synths):
Mood Synth by apeSoft.
iSEM Synthesizer by Arturia.
Effects:
Glitch: GlitchCore by Alex Matheu.
Multieffects: False Memory by Stephan Bolch.
Reverb: Eos by Audio Damage.
MIDI Processors or sequencers : Fugue Machine by Alexandernaut.
Native processing:
Essential tools for equalization, filtering, dynamics, limiting, and saturation on every channel.
Mix Bus:
A mix bus in AUM - Audio Mixer is a routing tool that allows you to send and combine multiple audio tracks into a single channel so they can be controlled together.
What it’s used for
Global volume control: Adjust the level of multiple tracks using a single fader.
Shared processing: Apply effects (such as compressors, equalizers, or limiters) to the mix of all tracks simultaneously, rather than inserting them into each individual channel.
Effects sends: Create effects buses (for example, for reverb or delay) by routing a portion of the signal from various instruments to a single processor.
Recording subgroups or a final mix: Route buses to an input channel to record a downmix or stems directly within the application or via AudioShare.
How to set up a mix bus in AUM
Create or assign the bus: In the output options for the channels you wish to group, select an available mix bus letter (from A to P).
Create a receiving channel (if you want to process or record the signal): Add a new audio channel and configure its input to receive the signal from the same mix bus you selected.
Apply effects: Insert your desired Audio Unit plug-ins into the effects slot for that mix bus.
Bus Send:
To set up a bus send in the AUM - Audio Mixer app, you can use the effect slots or change the output destination, depending on whether you are looking for a parallel effect or a mix.
Steps to create a Bus Send (Parallel Effect / Send FX)
1. Open an audio channel in AUM.
2. Tap on one of the FX slots for that channel.
3. Add a new node by tapping the plus sign (+) and select "Bus Send."
4. Choose the bus (e.g., Bus A, Bus B, etc.) to which you want to send the signal.
5. Adjust the "send amount" by turning the effect control to send more or less audio to the bus.
6. Create a new receiving channel in AUM and select that same bus (e.g., Bus A) as its input source; you can then place your effect (such as reverb or delay) on this channel.
Key difference: Channel Output vs. FX Slot
Channel Output: Sends the entire audio signal from the channel directly to a bus (ideal for drum subgroups or setting up a Master bus).
FX Slot: Functions as a parallel send, allowing you to blend the original "dry" signal with the processed signal from the bus.
REC(Record):
You can record individual tracks or the master mix directly from the interface.
How to record in AUM
1. Arm the tracks: Press the record button on each specific channel you wish to record, or on the mix bus.
2. Start recording: Tap the main record button located in the top-left corner of the AUM (Audio Mixer by Kymatica.com) screen.
3. Pause or stop: If you press pause, the recording stops, but it continues to capture effect tails (such as reverb or delay).
Where recordings are saved
Files are stored in a folder called "AUM Recordings" within shared storage or in the AudioShare app.
You can access them at any time by tapping the menu button in AUM and selecting "Files."
From there, you can export them in their original WAV format to transfer them to other applications or a computer.
