Can more safety reports be a sign of greater trust?
In this conversation, I welcome Sevana Ganes, from Maersk, to explore what it takes to bring Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) into everyday work.
Sevana shares a telling sign from her experience: people stopped hiding things. But asking people to speak up is only part of the work. Leaders also need to respond, act on what they hear and show that reporting makes a difference.
We discuss how to earn leadership support, build trust and involve people in change; why Learning Teams should help us learn from everyday work, not only after incidents; and what happens when global approaches meet different local cultures.
We also explore a digital Learning Teams initiative under development, including potential uses of AI to support better questions and identify learning opportunities, as well as the challenges of logistics, contractors and capability building.
I share lessons from my own experience in Brazil, and we compare what working across South Africa, Europe and Latin America has taught us.
Interview in English.
