Phasmophobia is a (co-op) horror game where players take on the role of ghost hunters investigating haunted locations. Using special equipment, they must find clues to identify the type of ghost haunting the place. The game is full of scary moments, teamwork, and suspense, making it difficult to sleep peacefully afterward! 👻😴
A short, summarized explanation of the game can be found below:
In Phasmophobia, you have to correctly identify a ghost, to earn money, level up, and purchase better gear. To do this you have to collect 3 different types of evidences out of a possible 7 evidences, since each ghost has a unique combination of 3 evidences. Furthermore, each ghost has unique abilities and traits, which can also be used to include or exclude ghosts in your evidence.
Possible evidences:
EMF level 5: The EMF reader detects electromagnetic activity caused by paranormal interactions. Some ghosts can produce a reading of Level 5, which is the evidence you need. A reading of Level 2 or 3 alone does not count as EMF Level 5 evidence.
-DOTS: this projector tool projects a grid of green light across a room. Watch for a ghost-shaped figure moving through the grid.
-Ultraviolet: use a UV Light or Glowstick to reveal fingerprints, handprints and footprints left on doors, windows, and switches.
-Freezing Temperature: use a Thermometer to check the temperature in the suspected ghost room. A reading below 0°C (32°F) confirms freezing temperatures. Visible breath can be a clue, but the thermometer is the more reliable way to check the reading.
-Ghost Orb: look through a Video Camera's night vision for small, floating, glowing dots. They usually appear around the ghost's favourite room.
-Ghost Writing: place the Ghost Writing Book in an area where the ghost is active. If the ghost writes or draws in it, you have found evidence. Be patient, because it may take time.
-Spirit Box: use the Spirit Box to ask questions and listen for a ghostly reply. A response counts as evidence; silence does not automatically rule it out, because the ghost may not respond every time.
Furthermore, you can collect media to earn more money and exp; you can take photos, videos and audios of ghost activity or events in the house, such as doors opening, shadow ghosts etc. Ghost activity and events will only occur in the dark, not when lights are on.
However, be careful, since you also have sanity that decreases over time and while you are in the dark. When your sanity decreases enough, the ghost can start a hunt, in which it will try to find you and kill you. The only way to survive, is by hiding in a closet without the ghost seeing you.
To collect media and for more survivability, you have, next to the evidence tools, other tools present. These include:
-Video Camera
-Photo Camera
-Sound Recorder
-Flashlight
-Head Gear, which has different uses depending on the tier.
-Crucifix, which prevents a hunt if the ghost is within it's vicinity.
-Salt, a ghost can walk through here and possibly leave behind footprints
-Firelight, used for extra light and media recordings
-Incense, used to prevent a hunt for a limited time, or to confuse the ghost for a couple of seconds during a hunt, during these seconds the ghost cannot kill you.
-Igniter, used to ignite firelights and incenses.
-Motion Sensor, goes off when a ghost or player passes it, flashing a small light.
-Parabolic Microphone, used to listen to paranormal sounds in a large range.
-Sanity Medication, used to restore some of your lost sanity.
-Tripod, used as a mount for Video Cameras. Lowers the chance for ghost to throw a Video Camera.
-Sound Sensor, detects sounds in an area, and relays the data to the Truck. Does not collect audio media for you.
Cursed possessions are supernatural objects that let players interact with or influence the ghost in unusual ways. They can provide information, trigger events, or create dangerous situations.
-Ouija Board: Lets you ask the ghost questions, sometimes at the cost of sanity.
-Haunted Mirror: Shows a view of the ghost's favourite room, draining sanity while used.
-Tarot Cards: Draw random cards that trigger different effects, some helpful and some dangerous.
-Music Box: Plays music that can cause the ghost to manifest or approach it.
-Summoning Circle: Summons the ghost when activated, usually leading to a dangerous situation.
-Voodoo Doll: Forces ghost interactions when pins are pushed, with potential sanity loss and danger.
-Monkey Paw: Grants wishes with powerful consequences and limitations.
In short, collect evidence and media to correctly identify ghosts, thus earning money and exp. But be careful, since if you spend to long in the area, the ghost can start to hunt you and try to kill you.
