Before Christ, self-governed living says: • “This is my life.” • “I determine what is right for me.” • “I control who has access to me.” • “My feelings justify my response.” • “My pain gives me permission.” • “I will decide how far I am willing to obey.” But the cross declares: “Ye are not your own…For ye are bought with a price.” —1 Corinthians 6:19–20 Giving up our rights mean surrendering our claimed to live independently of God.
