The concerts feature the world premiere of his "A Christmas Wish," a 53-minute show that employs two choirs, a ballet troupe, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and soloists...The young singers light up the stage with their energy and personality, and Richman's appealing music includes many brief solos. The star of the show is sixth-grader Natalie Anna Sarver as Tina, whose wish is to help Santa bring presents to other children...Before Tina's wish is fulfilled, the Pittsburgh Youth Ballet dances "Reindeer Variations," a highlight of the score. Wearing body suits with antlers and nose coverings, the dancers perform as a corps and solo. Vixen steals the scene, with her red boa and steamy saxophone accompaniment...Richman's "Christmas Wish" is energetic and entertaining, but will surely be modified before future productions..."
