Yoooo Kazakhstan family!! 🇰🇿🔥 Today I’m reacting to UMAY - QUEEN for the very first time and BRO… I was NOT ready for this. 😭🔥 First of all, before pressing play I genuinely thought UMAY was one artist… Then the video started and I realised this was ANOTHER Kazakh girl group. Kazakhstan… what is going on right now?! 😂🔥 The first thing that hit me was the ENERGY. They literally come into their debut with this “watch out, we’re here” attitude, and that sums up the whole track perfectly. The production immediately gave me this rock / hip-hop hybrid feeling — honestly, there were moments that reminded me of the kind of energy I associate with Linkin Park. Heavy. Aggressive. Raw. Then they start RAPPING and that completely caught me off guard. Their delivery had real confidence and aggression behind it, and for a debut track it felt like they already had a very clear identity. But then the chorus switched the mood up. That’s where I started hearing more of an R&B / pop side to them, and I loved that contrast. You’ve got this edgy, almost rebellious energy in the verses, then the chorus opens everything up with smoother vocals and melodies. That combination worked so well. The choreography was tight too. Everything about the visual felt very intentional — the sporty styling, the motocross-inspired outfits, the attitude, the movement. I actually found myself asking during the reaction: Why motocross? 👀 Is motocross a big part of youth culture in Kazakhstan, or was it purely an aesthetic choice for this concept? Because whatever the reason… it looked SICK. And then when I found out this was their DEBUT SONG?! BRO. That made the whole thing even more impressive. UMAY came in sounding confident, aggressive and already visually distinct. And now I have another problem… Kazakhstan suddenly has: 🔥 404 🔥 iONE 🔥 UMAY all representing this new wave of girl groups.
